ME: Bakit 1 ang sinulat mo hindi one? (Why did you write 1 instead of the word one?
BIANCA: E di ba mommy ang o-n-e ay 1? Baka hindi alam ni teacher kasi syempre hindi sya math teacher. (Mommy, isn’t it that O-N-E is 1? Maybe teacher doesn’t know because she’s not a Math teacher.)

The Journal

May binigay na journal sa grade 1. Ang nasa cover si Jose Rizal.

BIANCA: Mommy meron binigay sa amin journal tungkol kay Jose Rizal kaya lang ayoko i-read.
ME: Bakit naman ayaw mo read?
BIANCA: Kasi tingnan mo ‘tong nakasulat sa harap parang ang bastos.

Ang nakasulat “HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PEPE!” Ang sama ng isip … tsk.

Over lunch …

ME: Kumusta yung quiz mo sa language? Nakuha mo ba yung plural at singular?
BIANCA: Mommy can we talk later? I want to have a nice and quiet lunch. Saka dati you told me not to talk when my mouth is full. Tingnan mo nag talk tuloy ako.

ME: Bakit konti na lang pencils mo? Asan ang iba?
BIANCA: Baka may kumuhang pencilnapper mommy.
